No it's not Andy baiting, I just thought I'd throw it out there. There's a lot of metal(ish) that I like, Sabbath, Slayer, Boris(?). But then I get to thinking is this metal? Is that metal? I like that band Mastodon (sp?). And that "umbrella" song is pretty good.
I think the "is this metal or not" discussion (which probably isn't very helpful to begin with) is very different than questioning the appeal of a very specific sub-genre of metal... And none of the bands you mention have anything to do with Black Metal...
